FAQ
How do I use the appam mix?
Simply add water to the mix and let it rest for 30 minutes. Stir well and start making appams on a hot appam pan.
Do I need to ferment the batter?
No. Our appam mix is pre-treated and does not require fermentation. Just rest and use!
Can I make other items like idiyappam or paniyaram with this mix?
This mix is designed specifically for soft, lacy appams. For idiyappam, a finer rice-based mix is recommended.
Is the appam mix gluten-free?
Yes! Our appam mix is naturally gluten-free and safe for those with gluten intolerance.
What is the shelf life of the appam mix?
Our half-cooked appam batter has a shelf life of 3–5 days when kept refrigerated. Always check the packaging for expiry details.
What kind of pan should I use?
You may add a pinch of salt if desired. The mix is lightly seasoned to allow pairing with both sweet and savory sides.
Can I store leftover batter?
Yes, store it in an airtight container in the fridge. Use within 2 days for best texture and flavor.
Is it suitable for kids and elderly people?
Absolutely! Appams are soft and easy to digest — ideal for all age groups.
Can I add coconut milk to the batter?
Yes! Adding a small amount of coconut milk to the batter can enhance the flavor and give your appams a richer, traditional taste. Just ensure the consistency remains pourable.
Why are my appams not turning out soft or lacy?
This can happen due to:
Thick batter – Try adding a little more water.
Low heat – Ensure the appam pan is hot before pouring the batter.
No resting time – Let the batter rest at least 30 minutes before cooking.
Proper pan heat and batter consistency are key to perfect appams!
